The great Czech composers occupy an important place in the varied repertoire of star conductor Rafael Kubelík. Many of his interpretations have become cult, including the recording of Antonín Dvořák's 9th Symphony "From the New World" with the Berlin Philharmonic in 1972: In it, the maestro "captured the enthusiasm of his players and created a feeling of tension and poetry" (Gramophone).
To mark its 125th birthday, Deutsche Grammophon started the re-release of legendary recordings in the highest sound culture: The audiophile vinyl series The Original Source presents outstanding recordings from the 1970s in a completely new sound quality. For this, the renowned Emil Berliner Studios remastered and edited the original four-track tapes in 100% analog quality (AAA) using technologies specially developed for the production of the series. The differences in sound compared to the original releases are considerable: greater clarity, more subtleties and improvements in the frequency response, as well as less background noise, distortion and compression allow for an audiophile listening experience like never before. The copies of this series are published in limited and numbered quantities on 180g vinyl records and in a deluxe gatefold edition with original covers and texts, accompanied by additional photos and facsimiles of the recording protocols and tape boxes, and an article explains the exact technical background.
