Claudio Abbado and the Boston Symphony Orchestra needed two sessions in February 1970 to complete the recording of this well-rehearsed ensemble. Their interpretations of Debussy's Trois nocturnes, Ravel's Suite Daphnis et Chloé, and his Pavane pour une infante défunte became classics.

To mark its 125th anniversary, Deutsche Grammophon is releasing legendary recordings of the highest quality: The new audiophile vinyl series, The Original Source, presents outstanding recordings from the 1970s in a completely new sound quality. The renowned Emil Berliner Studios remastered and edited the original four-track tapes in 100% analog quality (AAA) using technology developed specifically for the series. The sonic differences from the original releases are considerable.

Released on 180g vinyl and in a deluxe gatefold edition with original covers and lyrics, these copies are accompanied by additional photos and facsimiles of the recording protocols and tape boxes, as well as a text explaining the detailed technical background. Due to popular demand, an unnumbered reprint is now available.
