Created by a team of mad craftsmen as obsessed with perfection and meticulous detail as they were with music, The Viginti is a triumph of audio technology.

Not only does it push Eggleston Works’ standards - honed over almost three decades seeking perfection - but it does so in a way that celebrates the company’s illustrious history. By commemorating their twenty-year legacy product, Eggleston Works stumbled onto a new incredible piece, hiding a secret inside of it that speaks to their historic rise.

The Historic Rise of Mad Craftsmen

Sleek and modern, these white Eggleston speakers offer a sophisticated auditory experience with their elegant design and advanced acoustic technology.

Established in Memphis during the late 90s, Eggleston Works was not started with some grand dream in mind, nor was it the product of corporate development. It started with a group of craftsmen who, after years of designing bespoke furniture, turned their minds to something that brought them even more joy.

Enchanted by music for years, their pursuit of artistic exploration brought them into the arena of audio equipment, beginning a legacy already decades in the making.

See, the minds behind Eggleston Works sought a loudspeaker that could be used in a private or more commercial setup. More importantly, however, were two core tenets: it needed to be created with absolutely meticulous attention to detail, and it had to look fantastic.

In essence, pedantry was not frowned upon but celebrated- perhaps even required. With this in mind, they sought to create a piece of equipment that would capture the sensation of live sound for a home setup, and the Andra was born.

Before the Viginti, There Was The Andra

In many ways, the Andra Loudspeaker is the pioneer of the entirety of Eggleston Works’ catalogue. With its launch, so too was Eggleston launched into the market, earning them a place among the titans of the industry.

As if to confirm the creators’ inclination towards audio equipment design, the Andra would go on to be placed on the cover of the prestigious Stereophile magazine not once, but thrice in three months. It would also go on to be nominated for and win several industry awards. So what is it that made this debut one of such significance?

Quite simply, Eggleston Works’ design philosophy.

What has taken the greats years to achieve is almost intrinsic in Eggleston's approach, really coming down to that first

tenet- meticulous detail.

The underlying goal of every one of their products is to strike that careful balance between power and emotion that is so often only found in live music.

In order to do this, one needs to recreate each minute detail of the sound, which according to them is only really two further considerations: Accuracy and Musicality. In essence: reproduce each detail and do it without fatiguing the listener.

Working on this philosophy, Eggleston’s Andra would go on to become celebrated as one of the greatest loudspeakers on the market.

Despite massive changes in technology, the Andra led a twenty-year legacy of success. Naturally, this would go on to form the foundation for another chart-topping loudspeaker system, almost suggesting that Eggleston’s victory laps have the potential to set records.

The Viginti: Eggleston’s Victorious Victory Lap

If one is discussing hidden secrets in The Viginti, it must first be noted that the name of the piece is in and of itself, an easter egg.

Translating to ‘twenty’ in Latin, The loudspeaker is a simple testament to good design, with each detail- even the name- showing signs of consideration.

Enough about Eggleston’s approach, however, let’s discuss exactly how The Viginti has innovated, pushing the boundaries of that approach to their limits.

The Viginti features dual, 10” carbon woofers, carbon-dome midrange drivers and a Beryillium tweeter to deliver absolutely unparalleled clarity and detailed trebles.

It’s also the first of Eggleston Works’ product range to feature a slot/shelf port. According to the creators of The Viginti, this design choice allows for pinpoint-accurate calibration when it comes to tuning frequency. These choices make for an excellent frequency response across the ranges, leading to a product projected to follow in its predecessor’s footsteps.

Naturally, all of this is wrapped up in Eggleston’s signature aesthetic design style, with classic, clean lines that could fit into virtually any setup. This visual consideration is not only skin-deep, however. As we covered in our recent social media posts, The Viginti loudspeaker has one more secret that shows just how deep Eggleston’s aesthetic pursuits can go.

The Viginti’s Second Hidden Secret

If one were to take a look inside their enclosure of their Viginti, they would find Eggleston’s second little secret. There sits a bass clef-  a subtle but powerful nod to their dedication to music. Their shift from furniture to audio design marked the beginning of their meteoric ascent, and The Viginti, their crowned jewel, bears this mark as a reminder. Of course, the more cynical audiophile might suggest a more nefarious- or rather counter-nefarious reason for the symbol’s inclusion.

Those audiophiles suggest that Eggleston knew their design looked so good that there would be copy-cats, and in order to defend their loyal clients against frauds, included a failsafe.

Whichever reason you believe it to be, however, The Viginti’s bass clef is a final cherry on top of the Eggleston design philosophy at work. Going from a group of passionate designers to massive names in the audio equipment industry, has been a swift, undoubtedly challenging ascent, but with the Viginti, Eggleston has shown off just how well they can soar.
